Esomeprazole is used to prevent the stomach acid from entering the esophagus. Esomeprazole works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach produces. Nexium is not a controlled substance and requires medical supervision. Esomeprazole is not approved for the treatment of gastric ulcers.
Take Nexium as directed by your doctor. Do not take more than once per day. Do not take Nexium for longer than 14 days. Nexium can be taken with or without food.
